We’ve all heard that improving your home’s curb appeal by adding or improving landscaping, trimming bushes, weeding flower beds, and pressure washing sidewalks and the exterior of the home helps when selling your home, but is that really true? Or is that just an urban legend?
According to a study done by Michigan State University, a home with landscaping and effort into curb appeal can increase perceived home value by 5 to 11%!* That may not seem like a lot at first glance, however, after doing the math, that could be as much as a $33,000 increase for a $300,000 home sale!
With that much money at stake, we’d like to offer some suggestions for improving curb appeal.
1. Clean Driveway – consider power washing the entire driveway and removing any clutter.
2. Clean Exterior – think about power washing the entire exterior for a fresh and clean face!
3. Update Door – either repaint or replace the door entirely.
4. Update Roof – this option could potentially give you 105% return on investment!
5. Revamp Porch – update light fixtures and replace numbers!
6. Landscape – updating this portion of your home could help you sell your home even faster!
